Central Appalachian Peer Partnership

About the CENTRAL APPALACHIAN PEER PARTNERSHIP

As a part of the Studies to Advance Recovery Support (STARS) project, we launched the Central Appalachian Peer Partnership (CAPP) in 2022-2023. This partnership is comprised of Peer Support Specialists (PSS) who will be informing the development of recovery science in Central Appalachia. The CAPP Advisory Council is comprised of 11 PRSS working in 6 Central Appalachian states (KY, NC, OH, TN, VA, and WV). These members provide leadership for CAPP and the CAPP Data Registry.

Joining the CAPP DATA REGISTRY

The purpose of CAPP Data Registry is to learn more about the roles and activities of PSS in Central Appalachia, including PSS working with patients/clients utilizing Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD). The CAPP Data Registry will eventually include over 1,000 Peer Recovery Support Specialists, and will allow us to do more in-depth research on the science of peer recovery support. The ultimate goal of this project is to better understand PSS professionals and the important impact they make in the recovery process.

To join the CAPP Data Registry, participants will first complete a consent form and take a baseline survey. The first 1,000 participants will receive a $25 gift card. CAPP Data Registry participants will be contacted through email periodically to participate in additional surveys, which will also have incentives. For each additional survey completed, participants will be entered into a lottery drawing for a $200 cash incentive. Drawings will occur prior to the release of each new supplemental survey. Supplemental surveys are optional. The level of participation is up to each individual.

To join the CAPP Data Registry, you must:

  1. Be at least 18 years old

  2. Have a current accredited certification as a PRSS

  3. Be employed in TN, VA, NC, WV, KY, or OH

  4. Be physically present in the United States

If you meet the criteria above and would like to join, please click the button below to get started with the consent and baseline survey!

Member Surveys (Optional)

Once you are an accepted member of the CAPP Data Registry, there will be opportunities to take additional surveys in the future. Each survey should take less than 20 minutes to complete. You will be contacted via email when new surveys become available periodically, or you can find links to all available surveys below. Please DO NOT take a survey more than once.

Some new surveys may have different risks and benefits, as compared to the baseline survey, and thus may require an additional consent form or process. For every survey taken below, each participant will have one additional entry into periodic lottery drawings for a $200 cash incentive. For example, in any given month, a participant’s total number of entries into the lottery will be equal to the number of surveys they have completed at that time. Drawings will occur prior to the release of each new supplemental survey.

Thank you again for your participation in this important research for the Appalachian community!
