Dr. Farrell lead a 25 member department responsible for the administrative aspects of all research projects at Carilion Clinic including contracting, finance, regulatory, grant management and the conduct of the trial including research coordination. Prior to his current position, he was a Research Fellow in the Pharmaceutical Industry pursuing drug discovery/ early development projects in multiple therapeutic areas including immunology, hematology and metabolic diseases. Dr. Farrell trained as a Biochemist and obtained his PhD at the Medical College of Virginia/ Virginia Commonwealth University
